Experts suggest “coexistence” as one of the methods to prevent contamination. Farmers can utilize spatial and temporal methods to minimize unexpected pollen drifts (Cox, 2008). They also suggest the use of buffer crops, where rows of other crops are planted to shield organic crops from pollen drift (Cox, 2008). This may not be ideal for small farms where the land is limited and for financial reasons.
