Paper prompt: Propose an ethical redevelopment model
of the Tropicana Field site.
Your paper must answer the paper prompt. There is no “correct” answer; rather, you
must make the case for your choice. Your paper must include the following:
A thesis in a standalone paragraph. Your thesis will be: “[X] is an ethical way to
redevelop the Tropicana Field site”. This should be the only sentence in this
paragraph.
The 7 steps of critical thinking in chapter 4 of the textbook. Give 1 paragraph for
each step. (This means your paper will be 8 paragraphs total (thesis statement plus
7 steps).) Label each paragraph. Each paragraph must include justifications for any
claims you make.
A works cited page that includes all sources you use.
Two new sources that are not from our class.
o One new source must be from the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy:
https://plato.stanford.edu/
o The second source must be an additional scholarly philosophical source
(e.g., a journal article from jstor.org).
Use of the 2 new sources in the paper itself. These sources will appear in the
evaluation paragraph of the paper. To get full credit for using a source, each
source must take up half a page of your essay.
Use of either Aristotle’s virtue theory, Kant’s ethics, or utilitarianism to evaluate the
model you propose in the evaluation paragraph of your paper. You must explain
the theory and critically apply it.
Format
Your paper needs to be organized with 8 paragraphs: a thesis statement and then a
paragraph corresponding to each of the 7 steps of critical thinking. Label each section
clearly.
One inch margins, 12 point font, double spaced, times new Roman font. 2000 words
long, which means no shorter than 2000 words and no longer than 2100.
Spellcheck your paper, please. Edit your paper. Number your pages. Do not include
extraneous information, such as “Kant is an important philosopher,” or “For many years
politicians have struggled with the Tropicana Field site.” Put this heading, like this, on
your paper:
