Writing Assignment Instructions and Strategies for Success
Identify the question number you are answering and write the question itself (in bold type).
Use a standard essay response to all questions (i.e. four to five paragraphs with three to five sentences per paragraph, including an introduction, middle paragraphs, and conclusion).
All responses must be typed double-spaced, using a standard font and 12 point type size for ease of reading and grading.
The average length (number of words) for your response is 500+ words.
Review the material in the textbook related to the question. You may also want to use other sources to help you answer the question, but the primary source for answering the question should be your textbook. The faculty wants to be sure you understand the concepts covered in the textbook.
Be sure to discuss the textbook material first and then feel free to add additional information as it provides support or contrast to the textbook material. Maximum grading points are given for work that demonstrates an in-depth understanding of the assigned readings.
You need to demonstrate your ability to evaluate, assess and analyze the concepts related to the question and express a solid understanding of the material by looking at it from different perspectives. Maximum grading points are awarded for assignments that demonstrate both a solid understanding of the material and make connections between varying points.
Present a well organized and developed response that is clear in its presentation of the course material.
You will be evaluated on the proper use of grammar, spelling, punctuation, citation style, etc.
When using the textbook or other outside references, and when you use a direct quotation from one of those sources, be sure to provide a reference for where the information was obtained. Students must use APA style citations in their writing assignments.
All online responses must be submitted as an MS Word Document file only.
