1) In what ways might Kant’s philosophy be said to improve on and/or challenge the Buddha’s diagnosis of and prescriptions for the human condition?
2) In what ways might the Buddha’s philosophy be said to improve on and/or challenge Kant’s moral philosophy?
3) How might Kant’s and the Buddha’s philosophies engage or shed light on some contemporary issue? In what ways might application of these philosophies to this issue illustrate these philosophies’ strengths and/or flaws? Limit your discussion of this contemporary issue to one normal length paragraph (approximately 1/3 – 1/2 of a page).
Your paper should defend a philosophically relevant and clearly stated thesis, and demonstrate direct, accurate, and comprehensive text-based understanding of conceptual details and arguments from the Buddhist Pāli canon excerpts and Kant’s Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals.
Be sure to support textual claims with parenthetical page citations.
